Antwerp Mansion is run by lizards from the lower fourth dimension
About The Gallery
The Old Rope Gallery is volunteer and donations ran,
we have no funding from the council, lottery or
anyone else, please support the project.............

The Old Rope Gallery is a not for profit, volunteer ran project located in the Antwerp Mansion Ballroom. We offer a large (1500 sq ft), open unique space that can be utilised in a number of ways whilst still retaining its original features. Whilst still providing the opportunity for complete transformation, enabling artists numerous ways in which to use the space.

Running for over two years, The Old Rope Gallery is already extremely popular within the artistic community, providing established and new artists a place to showcase and produce. We have worked with a host of local independent artists and fashion designers, as well as closely working with Manchester Metropolitan University over a number of different courses including Sculpture, Paint and Printmaking, Photography, and Film Events. Our aim is to use the space in a positive way, by helping people showcase, gain exposure and make creative contacts.

The gallery is housed within an early Victorian gothic bohemian mansion built in 1840, having lived many lives as a private residence, Belgian Consul- unit, and a private club. In 2009 Antwerp House received a new lease of life, and now commands a truly remarkable cult status as a music and arts venue, gaining a great amount of grass roots creative support and has become home to much of the new musical and artistic talent of Manchester. Re-named Antwerp Mansion by the musicians and artists themselves, the space has been and continues to be slowly restored by a large group of volunteers, who wish to create a creative hub for creative people, by creative people.
